Christians, revellers welcome New Year in Saki

Saki, Jan. 01 GNA – Christians and revellers in Saki a community in the Nmlitsakpo electoral area in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have welcomed the new year with multifaceted social and religious events within the community.

Over 100 churches within the community held watch night services to usher in the New Year whereas pubs, spots including some youth groups mounted sound systems to dish out melodious sounds to welcome the New Year.

The Ghana News Agency monitoring team observed that revellers had filled the various pubs and spots in the community with chilled beer and other assorted drinks as well as assorted meat and fish well positioned on their tables amidst music to dance with.

The GNA further noted that some of the revellers thronged the churches a few minutes to usher in the New Year as they joined the Christian to sing and dance into the New Year.

Soon after church services were over some of the Christians also joined the revellers in the pubs and spots to exchange New Year pleasantries.

Firecrackers were heard across the Saki community and its adjoining towns signaling that the birth of 2022.

Madam Susana Tetteh, a member of the Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI) Saki Circuit, told the Ghana News Agency that she was grateful to God for keeping her and the family safe throughout the year 2021.

She explained that 2021 was full of unexpected surprises adding that the rate at which people died was very alarming, a situation she said got her scared.

Madam Tetteh further hinted that the coronavirus pandemic also affected lots of business in the country but was quick to add that the New Year would bring some reliefs and divine blessings to Ghanaians.

“Times are really hard but we are optimistic things will be better this year,” she said.
