Clergyman urges Ghanaians to be innovative

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA — Bishop Dr Dominic Newlove Allotey, Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Ministries International has called on Ghanaians particularly the youth to develop innovative solutions that will address social, environmental and economic challenges facing the country.

He said there was the need to harness new technologies to address challenges in various sector of the economy particularly in the areas of health, environment and education.

Bishop Dr Allotey was speaking at the opening of this year’s summit of the church at Ashalley Botchwey, Accra.

The seven-day Kingdom Summit which is on the theme ‘Experiencing the Kingdom’ ends on Sunday, November 28 and is aimed at introducing the church unto the community and the La Nkwantanang Madina municipality and also to help impact their lives.

It is also aimed at building the capacity of the participants to help them overcome challenges and pray for accident-free Christmas and the nation’s sustainable development.

Bishop Dr Allotey said ’As young people you are a critical part of the country’s developmental process, you are not only active users of new technology, but creators of vibrant innovations to develop the nation’.

He encouraged the youth not to be deterred by challenges that they may face in their pursuit to develop solutions for societal problems.

The Presiding Bishop cited various innovations championed by young people and advised them to emulate their peers by coming out with innovative solutions to support the country’s efforts to move ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ as envisioned by the President of Ghana.

Bishop Dr Allotey urged scientists, engineers and technologists to draw lessons from their experiences in innovation to motivate and counsel the youth to write down their ideas and work relentlessly on implementing them to generate solutions to ensure sustainable development.

He said the church as part of its social responsibility was organizing free medical services to the community and also supporting brilliant but needy students over the years.

Bishop Dr Allotey said plans were underway for the church to expand its educational and health systems to complement government’s efforts of providing quality and affordable education and healthcare.
