Accra, July 7, GNA – Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko have secured a place in the last eight of this year’s MTN FA Cup competition.
Afriyie Barnieh’s strike from 12 yards inside the second half was enough for Hearts as they edged Division One side Accra Young Wise.
Kotoko secured their spot in the quarters earlier on Tuesday after beating Asokwa Deportivo 2-1 with Brazilian import Fabio Gama and Evans Adomako scoring for the Porcupine Warriors.
Division two side Attram Di Visser stunned Premier League side Legon Cities as they beat them 5-4 on penalties after regulation time ended one all.
The all Premier League affair between Aduana Stars and AshantiGold ended with victory for the Miners who edged their counterparts 5-3 in regulation time.
Great Olympics’ journey in the competition was brought to an end as they lost on penalties 4-2 against Medeama SC after 90 minutes ended scoreless.
Elmina Sharks who have struggled in the Premier League are among the final eight as they edge Division One side Tema Youth 3-2 on penalties.
