Accra, Aug 29, GNA – The Ledzokuku Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), has convened an emergency stakeholder meeting to address some challenges associated with the celebration of this year’s Homowo festival.
The meeting which was attended by some traditional and religious leaders, assembly members, and community reps follows some disturbances that occurred on Wednesday, August 26, 2025 during the sprinkling of the traditional Kpokpoi as part of activities marking the festival.
The disturbances resulted in violent clashes between the Gbugblah and Lenshie clans, leading to the death of three persons, including a child.

In the meeting, a proposal by the MUSEC to suspend the rest of activities marking the celebration of the annual festival was met with stiff opposition.
The meeting which could not resolve the differences was put on hold after which it was agreed that the MUSEC engage the various factions to arrive at an amicable solution.
According to Mr. Frank Ashidam, Chairman of the Teshie Council of Elders, the decision was to get the various factions to agree to some guidelines for the rest of activities marking the festival.
He said failure to reach an amicable solution will leave the MUSEC with no option than to secure a court injunction against the celebration of the festival.
Efforts to get officials of the MUSEC to speak to the GNA yielded no results.
