Parliamentary Health Committee to embark on hospital tour to boost healthcare delivery

Accra, April 17, GNA- The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health is set to tour various regional and teaching hospitals nationwide from Tuesday, April 22 to Friday April 25. 

Led by the Committee’s objective to promote quality healthcare delivery, the four-day exercise aims to assess the status of healthcare infrastructure, identify challenges, and develop strategies to enhance service delivery nationwide. 

A statement issued by Mr David Sebastian Damoah, the Director of Media Relations at Parliament, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the tour sought to provide Members of Parliament (MPs) with a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing healthcare institutions. 

It said the initiative aligned with the Committee’s overarching objective to ensure quality healthcare delivery to all Ghanaians, explaining further that the Committee had been divided into three teams to visit the following hospitals. 

“Team One: The Bolgatanga Regional Hospital; Nalerigu Regional Hospital; Tamale Teaching Hospital; Tamale Regional Hospital and Wa Regional Hospital. 

“Team Two: Damongo Regional Hospital; Techiman Regional Hospital; Sunyani Regional Hospital and Goaso Regional Hospital,” it said  

It mentioned the Kumasi Regional Hospital; Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital; Koforidua Regional Hospital; Ho Regional Hospital; Ho Teaching Hospital; and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital as scheduled for team three. 

The statement said the Committee had encouraged stakeholders to engage with the teams during the visits and share insights that could help improve healthcare delivery in the country. 

It said the exercise demonstrated the committee’s commitment towards ensuring the efficiency, accessibility and responsiveness of Ghana’s healthcare system to citizens’ needs.
