Ramallah, Feb 1, (dpa/GNA) – Thirty-two Palestinian prisoners have been released by Israel so far on Saturday, Palestinian media reports.
Their relatives were on hand to greet them in the West Bank city of Ramallah, where the Palestinian Authority has its administrative centre.
The prisoners, who were released in exchange for three hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip earlier in the day, were transported in buses run by the Red Cross.
A total of 72 Palestinian prisoners are to be released from Israeli prisons, 39 of them from the West Bank. Seven of those found to have committed serious crimes are to be taken abroad.
The remainder are from the Gaza Strip and were detained before the October 7, 2023 massacre.
In addition, 111 other prisoners detained in the Gaza Strip after that date are to be released. According to reports, Israel has established that they had nothing to do with the Hamas attack.
