Syrian war monitor: 16 killed in airstrike on Aleppo amid fighting

Beirut, Nov 30, (dpa/GNA) – At least 16 people were killed in an airstrike on central Aleppo on Saturday, a war monitor reported, amid renewed fighting in war-torn Syria.

Some 20 others were reportedly injured in the strike on a roundabout, the first in the city centre since rebels entered Aleppo this week.

The incident was “a horrific massacre committed by warplanes, likely Russian,” the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

At least 327 have been killed since November 27, the observatory said, when an alliance of insurgents led by the Islamist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), launched an offensive against government forces in north-western Syria.

The rebels have taken large parts of Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city.
