Israel strikes Hezbollah targets on Syria-Lebanon border

Cairo, Nov 30, (dpa/GNA) – Israeli warplanes on Saturday, hit a crossing and bridges on Syria’s border with Lebanon, according to a war monitor.

The strikes had targeted the Jousieh border crossing and vehicles belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. No casualties were reported.

The Israeli military said it had conducted an intelligence-based strike earlier on Saturday, targeting military infrastructure sites,, adjacent to border crossings between Syria and Lebanon, used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons into Lebanon.

Israel has carried out a total of 158 attacks in war-torn Syria so far this year, according to the observatory.

Meanwhile, isolated attacks also continue to occur in Lebanon, three days after the start of the ceasefire between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israel, according to Lebanese and Israeli reports.

Three people were injured in southern Lebanon in an Israeli airstrike, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported on Saturday.

According to Lebanese media reports, a car was targeted in the drone attack.

The Israeli military said it would investigate the report.

According to Lebanese security sources, the outskirts of a town in southern Lebanon were also hit by Israeli artillery fire early on Saturday. There were initially no reports of casualties.

The Israeli military said its forces were still “deployed in southern Lebanon, and will actively enforce violations of the ceasefire agreement.”

Israeli soldiers had fought off suspects in southern Lebanon on Friday, and also found and confiscated Hezbollah weapons in a mosque there, the statement posted on X said.

The ceasefire agreement, which was painstakingly negotiated after more than a year of war, stipulates Hezbollah withdraw behind the Litani River, about 30 kilometres north of the Israeli-Lebanese border, in accordance with a UN resolution. At the same time, Israel is to gradually withdraw its ground troops from Lebanon within 60 days.

Since the beginning of the ceasefire, the intense mutual attacks between Hezbollah and Israel have indeed ceased. However, both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the agreements.
