Trinity Baptist Church supports Appiatse Reconstruction with relief items, GHc10,000

Accra, July 4, GNA – The Trinity Baptist Church, United Kingdom, with support from the Ghana branch Monday presented a cheque for GHc10,000 and some relief items towards the reconstruction of the Appiatse Community.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Reverend Reuben Asare, the Resident Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Accra, said the donation was premised on love and compassion for the people of Appiatse, ravaged by an explosion on January 20, killing scores of persons and destroying property.

“The word of God advises Christians to visit the orphans and the widows in their trouble, ” he said.

“We felt that as a church this is a typical occasion for us to show these dimensions of a pure religion to the community, through love, care and support as directed by God”.

The donation was also a part of a line up of activities for the birthday celebrations of the head Pastor, Rev. Kingsley Appiagyei, to whom they sent out a resounding Happy birthday wish through the media, Rev. Asare said.

Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, the Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund Committee, expressed gratitude to the Church on behalf of the people of Appiatse, and said she was particularly happy that the Church sent all the relief items straight to Appiatse, saving the Committee the time and resources to transport them.

She assured the delegation of the appropriate sharing of the items to the people and expressed the hope that the love and kindness showed them would be emulated by other churches to support a worthy cause.

The relief items included 24 boxes of assorted clothes and shoes, four boxes of toilet soap and washing powder, 10 bags of 50kg rice, two boxes of cooking oil, three boxes of Sardine and Mackrel and a box of Spaghetti.
