Amasaman, July 14, GNA – The Chiefs and people of Amasaman on Thursday launched a two-year development plan to give a facelift to the Community and its environs.
The plan will also involve the election of committees in every community that would oversee the implementation of the various projects.
Some of the projects envisaged to be rolled out include the re-gravelling of roads, construction of schools and others.
Mr Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, the Municipal Chief Executive, speaking at the launch, said the projects would be undertaken through communal labour and self-help contributions from community members.
He urged the Assembly members to continue to sensitise citizens in the 17 Electoral Areas of the municipality on the need to support the Government in developing the country.
He also commended the people for initiating the project, saying it was the right thing to do.
Nii Tetteh Mensah Kootsei I, Kpobiman Mantse, and President of Ga West Chiefs and Queens Association, who chaired the function, said the programme would help bring development to the doorsteps of the people even before the Government stepped in.
He called on the chiefs and queen mothers to use the occasion of the Homowo festival to raise more funds to support the development of their communities.
He also called on non-residents to “come home with their contributions and support efforts in developing the areas.”
The launch was attended by stakeholders, including the chiefs and queen mothers Association, Assembly members and members of the Landlords Association.
