Adakope community appeals for CHPS compound

Adakope (O/R) July 5, GNA – Residents in Adakope, a fishing community in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region, have appealed to government and benevolent individuals and organisations for a CHPS compound to enhance quality healthcare.

The unavailability of a health facility in the community has forced the people, including pregnant women, to access healthcare from nearby towns several kilometres by crossing River Oti.

Madam Victoria Nene, a community member, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that some pregnant women, including their babies, had lost their lives on the River Oti during child delivery process.

She called on the Ministry of Health and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to provide them with CHPS compound for basic health accessibility.

Nana Nartebih Kudzordzi, a Fisherman, said they had seen people drowned on many occasions on the River while heading for medical treatment.

He said they had been neglected by past and present parliamentarians in the Krachi West.

Nana Kudzordzi appealed to the general public to help provide the necessary health amenities to make life easy.
