Fifty-one hospitality facilities in Volta and Oti to face closure

Ho, June 29, GNA- Fifty-one Hospitality facilities in the Volta and Oti regions are likely to face closure for failure to regularise their operations despite calls by the Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

The facilities, include hotels, guesthouses, hostels and catering houses, believed to be operating illegally in the regions.

Mr Alexander Nketia, the Volta Regional Manager, GTA speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the Authority would on July 1 embark on an exercise to close the facilities.

He said out of 61 facilities in the region, only 10 redeemed themselves after many warnings sent to them, regarding the regularisation of their operations and facilities.

Mr Nketia said the registration process, which had now been digitised, meant that there was very limited human interface while adding that those who may not be able to go through the process, could contact GTA to benefit from its staff who have been trained to assist them without any fees.

He urged facility operators to visit www.visitghana.com to register online.
