Hohoe (V/R), June 14, GNA – The security agencies in the Hohoe Municipality have held a sensitisation workshop for bankers in the municipality on tackling the terrorism threat.
The agencies included the National Investigation Bureau, the Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Police Service.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr Jonathan Lamptey, Hohoe Divisional Commander, said there was a need for the bankers to take terrorism threats seriously.
He said they must, therefore, enhance physical security at the various banks and report any suspicious characters to the security agencies.
The participants were taken through some survival skills which could be useful when confronted with a terrorist attack.
The participants were also taken through scenarios such as active shooter situations, explosions and chemical attacks.
ACP Lamptey advised the participants to apply the “Run, Hide and Tell” model whenever they encountered terrorists.
He also charged the bankers to put in place measures to identify workers who could be compromised by terrorist organisations.
ACP Lamptey said terrorist organisations sometimes used banks to launder money to finance their activities.
He encouraged the bankers not to shield workers who helped to mask and transfer monies to criminal elements.
About 20 bankers took part in the programme.
The security agencies also engaged worshippers at the Hohoe Central and Sabon Zongo Mosques to interact with them on terrorism and related matters.
