Accra, June 29, GNA- Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu is optimistic about playing in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), possibly next season.
Agyemang Badu, who once played for Asante Kotoko in 2008, is currently without a club after his contract with Chinese club Qingdao FC ended.
According to the 31-year-old energetic midfielder, he still had plans to play in Europe next season but would play for a local team if a deal doesn’t work out in Europe.
In an interview with GNA Sports, Agyemang-Badu revealed that a couple of GPL teams had approached him about a possible move, but was weighing up his options before he decides.
“I have had offers to play in the GPL from numerous teams in Accra and Kumasi, but I still want to go back to Europe with my agents still working out things.
“So let’s see if nothing happens for me in Europe, I am 120% optimistic about featuring in the Ghana Premier League next season,” he said.
He added that he was happy with the competitiveness of the just-ended league and rated it at 80% despite the hitches that came up at the latter stages of the season.
Agyemang Badu played an instrumental role when Ghana’s Black Satellites won the U-20 FIFA World Cup in Egypt in 2009, having also featured at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
