Berasi (C/R), Dec. 8, GNA – Dr Nana Ato Arthur, the Head of Local Government Service, has engaged in philanthropic activities at the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region as part of programmes to mark his 60th Birthday.
More than 100 widows and elderly women in the Berasi Community could not hide their excitement when the celebrant presented half pieces of wax prints to each one of them, as they beamed with smiles in appreciation.
At a ceremony at Berasi, his home town, Dr Ato Arthur gave out GHC50 each to the elderly women to enable them to sew the cloths.
Friday, December 24, marks the birthday of Nana Ato Arthur, an Engineer, Local Government Expert, Politician, MP and Former Central Regional Minister.
Through his charitable organisation; “Who Doesn’t Need Help Foundation,” Dr Ato Arthur had earlier presented digital printers with copiers and scanners, books and mathematical sets to students of Ankaful Basic School.
A sod was also cut for the construction of a GHC350,000 ultra-modern day-care centre at the town to serve the Saaman/Berasi communities in the Municipality to expand access to education.
He also organised an epic football match between the old players of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs, which drew scores of people from all corners of the Region and beyond to share in the fun.
“I owe a lot of gratitude to God for enabling me to mark a 60th milestone and to recommit myself to do more to better the lot of the people in my area,” Dr Ato Arthur said.
He said his elevation from a District Chief Executive, Member of Parliament, Central Regional Minister to his current position as Head of Local Government Service, demanded of him to look back and offer the necessary assistance to those who supported him, as gratitude to God.
The event was graced by dignitaries including Mrs Justina Marigold Assan, Central Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kwesi Biney, former Ahanta West District Chief Executive and Journalist, as well as traditional and religious leaders.
Nana Brakwa Adjei IV, the Ankbeahen of Abrem-Berasi, on behalf of the people, commended Nana Ato Athur for his philanthropic gesture, respect and support for humanity.
Reciprocating his kindness, the chiefs read a citation in which they described Dr Ato Arthur’s gesture as “phenomenal inspiration” for all to aspire to higher heights in life.
They also donated assorted items to the communities.
