Sunyani MCE congratulates EC for successful polls

Sunyani, Dec. 01, GNA – Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Sunyani East Municipal Chief Executive, on Tuesday congratulated the Electoral Commission (EC) on the successful nationwide special voting exercise.

She also commended the security services, political parties, and their polling agents for the responsible way they conducted themselves and hoped, particularly the various political party agents would do the same on December 7, to facilitate peaceful presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mad. Owusu-Banahene gave the commendation when she visited and interacted with electoral officers supervising the Sunyani East constituency of the EC’s special voting exercise at the Bono Regional Police Command in Sunyani.

She indicated the successful conduct of the special voting exercise for the security agencies was an indication that the EC was duly prepared to conduct the December 7, polls, in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

“The responsible way and manner the EC observes the COVID-19 safety protocols at the polling stations is highly admirable and requires commendation”, she said, saying, “if we continue with this attitude, every Ghanaian voter will be safe on the voting day”.

In a related development, Mad. Owusu-Banahene presented GHC4,000 to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicators in the Sunyani constituency to intensify electioneering in the run-up of the December 7 polls.

Addressing a meeting, attended by about 30 of the NPP communicators, held in Sunyani, Mad. Owusu-Banahene emphasised the presidential and parliamentary elections were crucial to the NPP and asked them to eschew complacency and do vigorous political campaigns to widen the votes of the party in the elections.

Though she observed it was ‘clear and glaring’ that the NPP would win the presidential elections, and secure a majority of the parliamentary seats, it was important for the communicators to do what was necessary by selling the numerous achievements of the government to the masses.

“This is the surest way we could persuade the voting population and enhance the fortunes of our great party in this elections”, she added.
