Yendi (N/R), June 7, GNA – Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah, the aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Yendi, has distributed quantities of farm input to more than 600 smallholder farmers in the Constituency.
The items include 5,400 9kg-bags of certified maize seeds, 1,200 bags of NPK fertilizer, 600 bags of Urea fertilizer, and 600 Knapsack sprayers meant to support the beneficiary farmers to improve on their farming business and enhance their economic conditions.
This follows the disbursement of loans worth over one million Ghana cedis from the Micro and Small Loans Company (MASLOC) to almost 800 local farmers and small-scale enterprises in Yendi.
These supports form part of the yearly contribution to the local farmers by Hajia Zakaria, who is also the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC.
She commended her team, led by Alhaji Shei Zakaria, for the hard work and dedication in all activities aimed at improving the lives of her people.
She indicated that it had always been her strong desire to assist the deprived people to come out of poverty by enhancing their economic activities.
Hajia Zakaria urged the farmers to ensure proper use of the inputs and equipment for good yield to generate more income to support their families.
A beneficiary, who pleaded anonymity, said the aspiring parliamentary candidate had not only been supportive and most reliable but had also been truthful in her quest to improve the lives of her constituents.
“Hajia Zakaria’s has been our lifeblood, inspiring us to continue to stay in farming because she makes our business less costly, attractive and more beneficial,” she said.
“Her support comes to us at no cost, and the proceeds come to us directly, thereby enhancing our economic well-being.”
