Accra, May 15, GNA – Ms Esther A.N. Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer, Strategic Communications Africa (Stratcomm Africa) Limited has said ‘we all need to persevere in our determination to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.’
She said it was also necessary to treat those infected with the virus with respect and stop stigimatising them to get them back into the communities and restore their vibrant socio-economic lives.
Ms Cobbah, in a message to commemorate the 26 years existence of Stratcomm Africa, said ‘we cannot give up. We need to be positive and resilient in the face of this adversity.’
She said the commitment of healthcare workers throughout the world has been amazing and should encourage us all, adding that such human traits were worth celebrating and communicating.
She said also worth appreciating were those through whose dire experiences of being infected important scientific information was being gathered for fighting the virus.
“Let us embrace those, who have recovered from COVID -19 in love, without any stigma, we cherish the memories of the lives that have been claimed through this pandemic and mourn with those who have lost loved ones,” she said.
Ms Cobbah said COVID-19 has really over-whelmed the whole world and it has brought normal life to a halt for most individuals and ‘it has got us all seeking to stand together to be rid of the invisible virus- common enemy.’
She said whilst the country need to work together, ‘we are having to distance ourselves physically from each other and all over the world, borders were closed, human movements were being restricted to prevent the spread of the virus.
The CEO said amidst social distancing, individuals and families stayed connected through communication, showing how vital communication was for human existence no matter the situation.
“So we see technological innovation and deployment being driven by this fundamental human need -to communicate, to engage, to stand together in times like these,” she said.
She said communication has crossed closed borders, defying lock down and quarantine to touch people throughout the world in uplifting ways, which has enabled individuals to stand together, whether as families, communities, businesses, countries or the global community.
Ms Cobbah said it has become even more vital to ensure effective and excellent communication that helps promote safe and healthy behaviours, perseverance, resilience and positivity as the world combats the pandemic.
She said perseverance, resilience and positivity and communication excellence, have been part of the Stratcomm Africa story and it was really sobering for them to be commemorating their 26th anniversary in the midst of COVID-19.
She encouraged all of to remain resilient and persevere in the fight against the pandemic.
